Antideficiency Act and Those Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice

Just something to think about. This seems both ashamed and interesting. First, check out the article in the link below. If this plays out like the article indicates I believe that this is a very shameful thing for the White House and our President to do. The reason it is not necessary according to the White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is because the charity group The Fisher House Foundation has entered into an agreement with the Pentagon to provide the benefits in the short-term and that the Defense Department has already agreed to reimburse the Fisher House.

If that is true then some officials in the Pentagon have a hugh problem. The law that basically forces the government to shutdown is the Antideficiency Act. At issue is this part of the law . . . “involving the government in any obligation to pay money before funds have been appropriated for that purpose, unless otherwise allowed by law.” In this case if it were already funded or allowed by law this issue would never have come up in the first place. Since neither of these are true in this case then the Antideficiency Act should apply to those in the Pentagon that obiligated our government to reimburse the Fisher House for their expenditures.

I am Confused

What’s on your mind? I am confused. Could someone please explain this to me. Just read an article about Ariel Castro. In case you don’t remember who he is . . . “Castro, 53, was a few weeks into a life sentence after pleading guilty in August to kidnapping three women from the streets of Cleveland, then imprisoning them in his home for a decade during which time he repeatedly raped and beat them. He was accused of limiting their access to food and toilet facilities and chaining them at times to a pole in the basement. Rescued with the three women in May was a 6-year-old girl Castro fathered with one of the victims.”

In the same article this is what has me confused . . . “A comprehensive mental health evaluation found “no evidence of serious mental illness or indications for suicide precautions were present.” Now read that again slowly “no evidence of serious mental illness”. Really, I mean REALLY!!!!

My Conclusions on the Government Shutdown

What’s on your mind? After reading the morning news I have come to several conculsions. 1) The governement shut the government down. We the people did not have a say in it. 2) They did it for one very simple reason, to try to make the “other side” look bad so that “their side” could “win” come election time. 3) They should all be ashamed and embarrassed by their words and actions. 4) We the people should impose our own term limits on each and everyone of them.
